The story behind the artwork

April is a beautiful month. The weather is mild but the sky is blue and the light is lovely. Magnolias seem to be everywhere and their scent is divine. On these mornings I love nothing more than sitting down to a cup of tea and looking through some of my art books surrounded by Banksia and Magnolia.

About the artist

After growing up in Broken Hill and living in Adelaide and Sydney, I traveled to Europe, fell in love with Italy and made Florence the base for my textile-design business. In the 22 years since, I have produced fabric designs for high-end fashion labels such as Blumarine, Etro, Roberto Cavalli and Enrico Coveri. I have also participated in numerous art exhibitions. I am passionate about art.

About the artist

Amy Raymond is a professional artist based on Sydney’s Lower North Shore. She began her creative career as an art director at a leading advertising agency, before stepping away to focus on family life. In recent years, Amy has returned to her artistic roots, developing a distinctive style centred on vibrant seascapes that reflect the shifting blues and light of the ocean. A lifelong beach lover and proud Sydneysider, she draws constant inspiration from the natural beauty of her coastal surroundings. Her work invites viewers into sunlit, tranquil scenes—evoking joy, nostalgia, and a deep connection to Australia’s coastal lifestyle through bold, expressive use of colour and texture.

The story behind the artwork

My artwork reminded me of different textural celestial patterns combined together in a collage. Flowing waves and sharp geometric shapes that spread across the surface, creating a sense of movement and structure. The colour palette is rich with deep blues and vibrant yellows, blending like light and shadow in motion. Across the piece, small golden, textured star patterns are scattered, adding a shimmering effect that catches the eye.

About the artist

I’m a graphic designer and architect. My combined studies of art, architecture, and history have motivated me to travel the world in search of inspiration. I describe myself as a passionate treasure hunter, constantly digging through the visual spectrum for my next great find. I finished my Bachelor Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning in Bucharest and I’m currently living in Birmingham, UK.
