The story behind the artwork

Hydrangeas are an extraordinary flower, endlessly layered and full of quiet drama. I love painting them, returning again and again to their shifting colours and generous forms. This artwork was created as a commission for a client who shares my love for hydrangeas, making it a collaboration rooted in appreciation and beauty.

About the artist

After growing up in Broken Hill and living in Adelaide and Sydney, I travelled to Europe, fell in love with Italy and made Florence the base for my textile-design business. In the 22 years since, I have produced fabric designs for high-end fashion labels such as Blumarine, Etro, Roberto Cavalli and Enrico Coveri. I have also participated in numerous art exhibitions. I am passionate about art.

The story behind the artwork

My artwork reminded me of different textural celestial patterns combined together in a collage. Flowing waves and sharp geometric shapes that spread across the surface, creating a sense of movement and structure. The colour palette is rich with deep blues and vibrant yellows, blending like light and shadow in motion. Across the piece, small golden, textured star patterns are scattered, adding a shimmering effect that catches the eye.

About the artist

I’m a graphic designer and architect. My combined studies of art, architecture, and history have motivated me to travel the world in search of inspiration. I describe myself as a passionate treasure hunter, constantly digging through the visual spectrum for my next great find. I finished my Bachelor Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning in Bucharest and I’m currently living in Birmingham, UK.

The story behind the artwork

In this painting I wanted to highlight the soft stillness of where the ocean meets the coastline early in the morning. Gentle light drifts across the water, creating a sense of calm, reflection, and quiet connection to nature’s rhythm.

About the artist

Lizzie Alsop is a full time contemporary artist who works from her home studio on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. She has been a creative all her life and launched into her art full time after a move to the coast fifteen years ago. Her artwork is described as a joyful and colourful mix of abstract and realism. Lizzie loves to create and express the wonder of her natural environment with abstract layers of geometric shapes and botanicals.

The story behind the artwork

This painting was inspired by the movement of dancing figures in swathes of colourful billowing fabrics.

About the artist

I’m an Australian artist from the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains. After living in Tel Aviv, London, New York and France for decades, I decided to move to the beautiful Blue Mountains. I obtained my Diploma in Fine Arts in 2012. I paint in a studio surrounded by flowers and nature, close to bushwalks and mountains outside my door. I’m a true colourist which I try to capture with my art practice.
