The story behind the artwork
This artwork is called “Green Bush”. It was inspired by the beautiful Bribie Island, Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia -where one third of the island is a protected nature reserve with pristine sand dunes and beaches, heaths, paperbark wetlands, freshwater creeks, lagoons and open native forests. This is where the artist calls home. After a significant amount of rain, the bushland was looking lush and green and many banksias and other native local wildflowers were blossoming and soaking up the sun.
About the artist
Terri Giesen is an Australian artist based on Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia. Her life from an early age has focused heavily on The Arts – dance, music and the visual arts. Painting – using mainly oils or acrylics – gives Terri the opportunity to slow down and capture the beauty and peace of nature in her paintings. Bribie Island has many tranquil, inspirationally beautiful places – beaches, lush bushland and wildlife. She also travels extensively and finds many places in the world to be stimulating for her paintings. She believes that when the viewer is looking at beautiful art it helps them to focus on the exquisite and good in the world which in turn then contributes to a peaceful living environment. Terri considers that light is the true subject of the artist’s work.
